Major destination haute cuisine. Costs a fortune and is worth absolutely positively every centavo. Fantastically original and marvelously executed dishes at every turn. A mescal collection to die for. Lots of architectural and design eye candy. Massively uncomfortable seats. Okay - you can't have everything in this world. Fortunately, the seats are designed so that The more mescal you drink, The softer and more comfortable the chairs become. I don't know how they do that but it kind of works. * * * The menu here is small ... So if you ate here enough - you really would get to try everything. Everything here is worth doing. The most boring format on a Yelp review is Dish 1. OMG! Dish 2. OMG! Dish 3 OMG! Repeat through Dish 36. I won't do that to you because you are nice people. However, I will make a few observations about some of the utterly amazing things you can eat and drink here. a) Many upscale Mexican restaurants in town have long long long long very first rate Mescal menus. Nearly all of them are good. Comedor has one of the best. A 2 oz drink will command an eye opening price. Just pay the price and close your eyes to enjoy the total mescal bliss that is coming your way. 2. They do a carrot tamal with a grated carrot salad on top and a carrot mole. Bugs Bunny never had it so good. Eat your carrots. Its's good for your eyesight. 3. Why in the world would anyone get $32 fish tacos when there are perfectly wonderful fish tacos all over town? (I particularly like the fish tacos at Tulum). Because Comedor's fish tacos are simply better - thank you very much. There is zero innovative in the preparation. They simply use a strong fishy fish and prepare it utterly and totally magnificently. This is Exhibit A for why Americans shouldn't be wimps about always eating bland fish. This strong fish has balls - and piercing dark eyes - and a rose between its teeth. You are about to be made love to by a fish taco. 4) The Hibiscus Raspa is a perfect happy little clown dessert. It is atypically huge for a restaurant that often has smallish servings. It is also an absolute proof of the argument once made by a Polish gourmet - "The problem with American desserts is that you can't get Americans to eat anything that is not chocolate". The Hibiscus Raspa will make you want to give up chocolate forever. Take shaved ice. Let it melt in your bowl. Top it with coconut espuma. Add a second whipped-cream-like complement. Add about four or five different kinds of fruit or fruit infusion. Think if you will about fruit salad - but imagine a fruit salad that is pure and total tropical paradise. This is everything the inventor of fruit salad wanted fruit salad to be. This is not the awful stuff that comes in a can from Del Monte. This is not the that's-nice-dear mediocrity that your friend brings to a potluck and you sample out of politeness. I spent longer on my Hibiscus Raspa than on anything else except for the mescal. I was in coconut espuma and harlequin colored happiness the entire time. Not even British Colombian marijuana has ever made me this happy. * * * They have other things on the menu - and I could go on and on and on about them. (One plus is they make a truly impressive and engaging strong espresso.) But I will let you do your own exploring on this menu. * * * Start saving your pennies now. Money doesn't buy happiness ... But eating at Comedor counts as happiness At least for one night.

Great happy hour spot and the restaurant is just so beautiful inside! We had a great server who kept the margaritas and happy hour bites coming. I can't recommend the bone marrow tacos enough. They were everyone's favorite bite!

Came for an anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint for the most part. Ambiance was nice on the patio, and service was attentive. My wife is pescatarian, so we stuck to the fish and veggies for dinner. Food: + Avocado tostada was tasty, loved all the different flavors and textures + Tacos de Pescado was our favorite, the verde salsa was amazing + Okra dish was also delicious, some amazing flavors with the texture of the okra -- The Enfrijolada tasted ok, but it was simply too hard to cut, wouldn't get it again. Drinks: ++ I like mezcal but found the menu daunting, so I asked for a recommendation from their sommelier. He suggested Creador Lumbre, which was paired with orange slices and sal de gusto (agave worm salt). The experience learning from the sommelier and enjoying the mezcal was truly memorable, I can't recommend it highly enough if you're interested in mezcal! + My wife enjoyed the Conejo Tonto, it was refreshing -- The Oaxaca Margarita was too watery, maybe due to melting ice on the warm evening? Dessert: -- The Tamal de Chocolate just wasn't for us. The ice cream was nice but the chocolate tasted burned/ashy. We'll try the pavlova next time.

Great food and atmosphere. Service was nice and efficient (shout out Cameron)! You can walk in and be seated between 5-6 without a reservation between Monday and Wednesday. El Cocaeruo - Sweet and milky. Light in color. More desert like but my favorite cocktail even during my a meal. Nublado - You either love or hate this cocktail. Less sweet than the Cocaeruo, but more liquorish forward. Conejo - Nice and sweet with a subtle carrot flavor behind the cilantro Repo Ginger - Refreshing, herbal, and very ginger forward Comedor Martini - Nice martini with a subtle spice Bone marrow tacos - Tied for favorite item on the menu. Rich and savory with a caramelized sweetness Tacos de Pescado (Grouper tacos) - Fabulous fried grouper taco. Tied for favorite dish! Papas Fritas - Crispy potato chunks. Not quite fries, not quite home style. Nice texture with a great sauce. Best salad on the menu Avocado Tostada - Its okay. Nice flavors, but nothing to write home about. Organic Half Chicken - nice and crispy. Not my favorite because it wasn't as juicy as I like my chicken. The skin had a nice flavor though.
